How to set up auto-moderation on Discord
Auto-moderation deals with the obvious stuff - spam, floods, message walls - before a human has to. Here is how to switch it on and tune it for your server.
Turn on anti-spam
- Open Moderation and select your server.
- Enable Anti-spam and set the message and duplicate limits.
- Pick a log channel so you can see what gets caught.
- Save changes.
Escalate repeat offenders
Set how many warnings lead to a timeout, and how long. Light-touch by default and stricter for repeat offenders means real spammers get stopped while genuine members are not punished for one mistake.
Tune it, do not overtune it
Start with the defaults and only tighten thresholds if spam slips through. Settings that are too aggressive catch normal chatter and annoy your members.
Open Moderation and turn on anti-spam in a couple of clicks.
Open Moderation →Frequently asked questions
Will it punish normal members?
The defaults are deliberately forgiving. You can add trusted roles that bypass automatic moderation entirely.
Can I see what it removed?
Yes - point it at a log channel and every action is recorded with the reason.
