Fixing common Discord moderation bot problems

The moderation bot tells you exactly what went wrong. Here is what each message means and how to fix it.

Common errors

If you see thisWhat to do
Ban failed / Kick failed / Mute failed: Missing PermissionsThe bot lacks the permission, or the member's top role is above the bot. Give the bot Ban/Kick/Timeout Members and drag its role above the members it moderates.
You lack Ban Members permission (and similar)This is about you, the moderator, not the bot. Give your staff role that permission in Server Settings then Roles.
User not found in guildThe member already left the server. Use /unban with their user ID if they were banned.
Nickname change failedThe bot needs Manage Nicknames and a role above that member. It can never rename the server owner.
Actions work but nothing appears in the logSet a log channel with /log #channel, and give the bot View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links there.
New member role not assigned"higher than or equal to its highest role" means the bot's role is too low. Move it above the role it assigns.
Tip. Still stuck? Read how Discord permissions and role order work.
