How to set up member verification on Discord

Before you start

Verification runs on the mimBo's Moderation bot. Make sure that bot is in your server with Manage Roles and Manage Channels, and that its role sits above the quarantine role and any roles it hands back after a member verifies. Discord only lets a bot manage roles below its own.

Set it up from the portal

1. Open the Verification module

   Go to the Verification page in the portal and pick your server.
2. Turn verification on

   Flip Verification enabled. New members are now held until they pass the check.
3. Choose a role and channel, or let mimBo's do it

   Pick a quarantine role (added on join, removed once verified) and a verify channel (the one place a held member can see). No roles yet? Hit Set it up for me and mimBo's creates an Unverified role and a #verify channel and wires the permissions.
4. Lock the server

   Press Apply channel lockdown. mimBo's denies View Channel for the quarantine role on every channel except the verify channel, so a held member sees nothing else, even a channel that is open to everyone. Re-run it whenever you add categories.
5. Write and post the verify message

   Customize the title, text and button, and pick a plain Discord embed or one of our card backgrounds. Then press Post / update message and the bot drops it in the verify channel.
