How to set up a mod log channel on Discord
A mod log channel keeps a record of every moderation action so your team is accountable and nothing happens in the dark. Here is how to set one up.
Set the log channel
- Create a private channel only your staff can see, e.g.
#mod-log. - Open Moderation, select your server and set it as the log channel.
- Save - every action now posts there automatically.
What gets logged
Each entry records the action (warn, kick, ban, timeout, purge), the member it affected, the moderator who did it, the reason, and a timestamp - so you can always see who did what.
Keep it staff-only
Make sure the log channel is hidden from regular members. It is a record for your team, not a public feed.
Open Moderation and point it at a log channel.

Does this log message deletions too?
The mod log records moderation actions. Full message edit and delete logging is a separate server-logging feature on the roadmap.
Can I use the live dashboard instead?
Yes - the safety dashboard shows recent actions in real time on the web, alongside the in-channel log.
