How to make a Discord server template

Open the visual builder

The builder lives at mimbos.com/builder. It gives you a drag-and-friendly canvas that mirrors how Discord lays out categories, channels and roles, so you design the server visually instead of clicking through Discord one setting at a time.

You do not have to start with a blank canvas. Use Import an existing server to pull the channels, categories, roles and emojis from a server you manage, then edit from there.

Build your template

1. Start blank or import

   Open /builder and either add elements yourself or press Import an existing server to load a live server as your starting point.
2. Add channels and categories

   Create text and voice channels and group them into categories. Name them the way you want them to appear on any server the template is applied to.
3. Add roles

   Add the roles your community needs, set their colours and mark any that should be handed to members by default.
4. Add emojis

   Drop in a starter set of emojis so servers built from the template arrive with a personality already in place.
5. Set per-channel permissions

   For each channel, choose which roles can see and use it. This is where a staff-only category or a members-only lounge is defined, and it carries across when the template is applied.
6. Save with a name and category

   Press Save. A name and a category (for example gaming, study or community) are required so your template is easy to find later.
7. Publish to the gallery (optional)

   If you want others to use your layout, publish it to the gallery. Keep it private and it stays for your own use only.

Manage your templates

Everything you save shows up at mimbos.com/mytemplates. From there you can edit a template, apply it to a server, change whether it is published, or delete it. Reopening a template drops you straight back into the builder with all of its channels, roles and emojis intact.
