How to customize your Discord starboard cards
Your starboard does not have to look like everyone else’s. Pick a render mode, a card style and an accent colour, and watch the live preview update as you go.
Pick a render mode
Every highlight is drawn one of three ways:
- Message only is a normal Discord embed with the author, text and any image. Clean and familiar.
- Discord screenshot keeps the native Discord message look and wraps it in a frame you can style.
- Styled card draws a non-Discord card that resizes to the message.
Choose a card style
The styled cards come in several looks, each with hand-drawn details:
- Blossom and Cute are soft and pastel, with bows, hearts and sparkles.
- Sakura adds a cherry-blossom branch in the corner.
- Dreamy is a lavender night with a crescent moon and clouds.
- Galaxy is a deep starfield for a darker board.
- Photo lets you sit the message over your own background image.
Set the colours
Give the card an accent colour to tint the styled details, and for the framed screenshot mode set a frame colour and thickness. Everything updates in the preview instantly, so you can dial it in before you save.
Use a background image
Pick the Photo style and paste a direct https link to an image. The message sits on a dark overlay so the text stays readable over any picture.
Open Starboard, pick a reaction and a card style, and post your first highlight.

Will members see the style I picked?
Yes. Whatever you set is exactly what gets posted to the board. The preview on the settings page matches the real output because they use the same renderer.
Can I change the style later?
Any time. New highlights use the current style; older posts on the board keep the look they were made with.
Can I use my own background image?
Yes, with the Photo style. Paste a direct https link to an image and the text sits on a dark overlay for legibility.
Do long messages still fit?
Yes. Styled cards grow to fit the text, and very long messages are trimmed with an ellipsis so the card never runs off.
