How to set up goodbye and leave messages on Discord
Goodbye messages post a short farewell whenever a member leaves your server. They are a nice touch and help moderators notice churn. Here is how to set them up for free with mimBo's.
Set up goodbye messages
- Open the Welcome & Goodbye builder and log in with Discord.
- Select your server, then switch to the Goodbye Messages tab.
- Turn on Enable goodbye messages and choose the channel for farewells.
- Pick plain text or a rich embed, then write your farewell.
- Preview it live and click Save changes.
Placeholders you can use
{{username}}shows the name of the member who left.{{server}}is your server name.{{memberCount}}shows the remaining member count.
Example: {{username}} just left {{server}}. We are now {{memberCount}} members.
Should you ping on goodbye?
Usually not. For farewells, use {{username}} rather than {{user}} so you do not ping someone who has already left. Keep goodbye messages calm and short.
Open the free Welcome & Goodbye tool and set it up in minutes. No coding required.
